Camp Refresh is the name of the January 2022 Nomadik Subscription Box. This review will cover what came in the box, compare the cost of the items vs. the cost of the subscription box, and answer some simple questions about the Nomadik.
Our overall rating of this box takes savings (value vs. cost), quality, usefulness, and fun into the equation. Keep that in mind as we go over the goodies in more detail, then read on to see if our opinions line up.

Coalatree Microfiber Towel (~$15)
Coalatree Microfiber Towel Info:
This microfiber towel is 13” x 19” and absorbs water very well. From our experience it does take a little bit of time to dry, but is way better than your typical towel for drying hands when camping.
Coalatree has a larger 19.5” x 36” towel listed at $39. Most microfiber towels this size were between $10-20 on average. This particular size must have been a promotional item from Coalatree for the Nomadik Box since it is not listed on their website. Since the larger towel is listed at $39, I’ll assume the middle ground for this smaller size and guess it’s worth around $15.
Coalatree Microfiber Towel Review:
Good size, dries well, great color choice. It is soft and blue and pretty, so I’m a fan.
All of these attributes plus being quick dry would make it perfect.
Topo Designs Dopp Kit ($35)
Ok, I’ll be honest.
I had to look up what a Dopp Kit was.
Apparently a German named Charles Doppelt came up with the idea. He called it a toilet bag, but “toilet” isn’t a very proper word to use, so it developed into the Dopp Kit. It was very popular in WWII (Copper River Bag Co.).
Kind of a fun name compared to the “Toiletry Bag” term I’m used to.

Anyway, this Nomadik Box goody is made of water resistant and durable material. The inside is made with an easy clean liner and the size is perfect for your toiletry essentials (11” x 5.5” x 5.5”). The triangle shape helps it stand up, but it also has tabs and a wrist strap you can hang on a hook.
The cost? $35 from Topo Designs.

Ursa Major Morning Mojo Bar Soap (~$5)
Ursa Major Bar Soap Info:
Mint & Eucalyptus– this soap smells amazing! Eucalyptus is known to be a calming scent, and peppermint helps with focus.
As a soap, it suds up well, cleans well, and is a perfect size for camping.
Not all campsite bathrooms have soap in them (if there is a bathroom!), so bringing a bar of soap in a reusable container is how we make sure to keep our hands clean. Camping can be dirty, but it doesn’t have to be unsanitary.
A 5oz full sized bar is $14 on Ursa Major’s website, so this travel size I am estimating to be around $5 or $6.

I will say, our entire toiletry bag smells like this soap now, including the Coalatree towel, and I love it!

Nomadik Subscription Box Tips
Each box comes with some tips from the Nomadik. The January Box included 5 tips on staying clean while you are camping.
My review? I like these particular tips as we already apply them ourselves. Our favorite from this list: sleeping bag liners.
They help keep you warm, and as the Nomadik reminds us, sleeping bag liners help keep your sleeping bag clean.
It is much easier to wash a sleeping bag liner than the full sleeping bag.
I love their tips because it is either something new, something to reinforce we are doing the right thing (not pros here!), or a mix of the 2.
Nomadik Subscription Box Challenge
This box came with Challenge #45.
What is the Nomadik challenge?
Simple: take a picture and post it on Instagram (or e-mail it), showing off one (or all) of the products you just received.
Tag the Nomadik in the photo and use the given hashtag (found in the brochure in the box).
Every month the Nomadik will choose 5 winners who receive a free $50 bundle. The challenge ends on the 28th of every month. Once they process the winners and get shipping info, they will send out the prize box.
Since not very many people enter this (based on searching the hashtag used), your chances are usually pretty good for winning.
No guarantees, but it doesn’t take much effort to enter- so enter!
Discounts from the Subscription Box
The discounts in this box include 15% off at Coalatree and 20% off at Ursa Major.
The Nomadik boxes typically come with discounts on most- if not all- of the brands represented in each box.
You do have some time to test out the products before deciding if you want to purchase more from the companies that contributed. The coupons from this particular January Nomadik box are good through October, 2022.

The box was $29.99 (if you have a 12 month subscription) or $32.99 (if you have a 6 month subscription).
The total value of the box items we just reviewed? ~$55
That’s a $15 saving, or if you look at a percentage discount $30 instead of $55 is a 54% discount!
As I mentioned before, the towel I wish dried a bit quicker, but it soaks up the water very well.
Love the Dopp Kit bag and the soap for the quality and usefulness. As for the fun- my toddler is obsessed with soap and I’m obsessed with bags. So we had a lot of fun using and photographing these items.
Useful, good quality, practical. And it smells good.

Are Nomadik Boxes good?
If you are looking to fill out your outdoor adventure gear or upgrade your hand me downs, this is the perfect option. You received practical and fun adventure related items every month for cheaper than you would buying the items separately.
However, if you want to buy something very specific there is no guarantee what each box will have in it- so don’t wait to buy essential items.
This is meant to be fun mail to fill in your wish list of items at a discount you may or may not have decided to buy and try on your own. You are guaranteed at least a $50 value for about $30 per month (length of subscriptions will vary the price by a little).

How long does Nomadik Take to Ship?
The Nomadik ships on the 24th of each month. If you have a new order and place it by the 15th, you will receive that month’s box. If your new order is made after the 15th, you will receive the next month’s box.
Example: if you purchase a subscription on January 17th, your box will be the February box and ship on February 24th
Length of shipping time depends on our postal system. It typically arrives for us (California) within 7-10 business days from shipment.
What is Cairn Subscription?
Cairn is another monthly subscription box option. You receive less items, but they are of a higher value than receiving multiple smaller ticket items. It is similar to the Nomadik pricing at about $33 per month for at least $50 worth of product.
They don’t have a monthly challenge, but they do have a points system. Points you earn for reviewing the products, etc. can be used to purchase select gear.
