Are you looking for a Disney Grand Legacy at the Park hotel review from someone who has stayed there?
As Disney vacations go, you want to be sure your hotel can keep you well-rested and offer conveniences to make your Disney days go smoothly.
The distance from the Grand Legacy at the Park to Disneyland is less than half a mile, so it’s one of the top choices when looking for a hotel outside the theme parks.
This is a sponsored post, but my opinions are my own and this is an honest review. Part of my job as a family travel blogger is to view experiences through the eyes of you, the parent, looking for answers when planning your vacations. By sharing how my family’s stay went and facts about the hotel, I hope to give you what you need to make your Disney accommodation decision.
With multiple food choices, spacious rooms, and a kids’ splash pad in the pool area, the Grand Legacy offers convenience, fun, and comfort.
My family and I recently stayed at the Grand Legacy on a Disneyland weekend getaway.
As Magic Key season pass holders, we go to Disneyland quite often. Living in San Diego means most trips are better if we’re staying in the area so we’ve experienced stays in the Disney Resort Hotels and multiple Good Neighbor Hotels nearby.
The Grand Legacy at the Park is definitely somewhere we would stay again.
Let’s take a look at everything the hotel has to offer and my family’s thoughts on our experience of the Grand Legacy.
Location
Grand Legacy Hotel at the Park Address: 1650 S Harbor Blvd Anaheim, CA 92802
Grand Legacy at the Park Distance to Disneyland: 0.3 miles
The Grand Legacy Hotel by Disneyland is one of the closest hotels you can get to the park with the exception of the Disneyland Resorts on the property.
To get from the Grand Legacy at the Park to Disneyland just walk north on S Harbor Blvd then cross the road.
This will take you to the east security entrance next to the Disneyland Esplanade which has the entrances to Disneyland and California Adventure.
It’s a very simple, flat walk with one crosswalk.
We timed ourselves and with a stroller and a green light, it took us 4 minutes and 11 seconds.
I think it was even quicker and more straightforward than crossing the street from Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel (soon to be Pixar Place Hotel summer of 2023).
With a quick walk for Rope Dropping, you can get on tons of rides in the morning without needing a Lightning Lane fast pass right away.
Can you easily go back to the room for nap time or a Disneyland break?
Absolutely! We went back to the hotel around 10:30 am for a quick swim, change, pack, and check out.
The only bummer was that extended parking wasn’t available that day to keep our car there past check out at noon, so we drove our car to the Disneyland Parking Structure which took longer than walking.
How easy is the location for Disney Rope Drop or Park Close?
Easy. We left the hotel at 6:30 am and were among the first 20-30 people in line for security. Once we got through security when it opened at 7 am, we were first in line at the Disneyland entrance gate.
We stayed in the theme park until 9 pm and were back at our hotel room with pajamas on and the girls tucked into bed before the Disneyland fireworks started at 9:30 pm.
Rooms
You have a wide option of room types at the Grand Legacy Anaheim, but I recommend upgrading your room to at least a Luxury Room level for the extra floor space.
All rooms come with pillow-top mattresses, a microwave, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker. For levels above the Classic Room, you can request a complimentary Crib/Rollaway based on availability.
The main differences between options at the Grand Legacy are room size, bed size, bathroom size, and view.
Wifi and lobby refreshments are included in your stay, but parking is an additional charge.
Room Amenities
All rooms have the same essential amenities. The only exception is that the Classic Room does not have the option for a complimentary crib or rollaway bed.
- Refrigerator
- Microwave
- Coffee
- Free WiFi
- TV
- Alarm Clock with 2 USB Ports
- Pillow-top mattress(es)
- Hair Dryer
- Iron & Ironing Board
- Phone
- Crib/Rollaway (if needed)
Luxury Plus Room
The Luxury Plus Rooms are located in the south tower of the Grand Legacy. The windows on the first and second-floor face towards the inner courtyard where the pool is located, and you have a good view of the fireworks.
You can choose a room with 2 queen beds or 1 king bed. The rooms also come with a table and chairs and Disney-inspired wall decor. Most Luxury Plus rooms will have double sinks but not all of them.
We were hosted in a second-floor Luxury Plus room, and I was impressed as soon as I walked in the door.
On walking in, we were greeted with a welcome bag full of goodies on the table (I’m sure this will vary based on room and availability).
You could tell the pillow-top beds would be comfortable just by looking at them.
There was so much floor space, I didn’t have to worry about feeling crowded with all our stuff as a family with 2 little kids.
The bathroom had two sinks separated by a door from the toilet and shower/tub area. This may seem like a small detail, but having a split bathroom like that with multiple sinks is a must for families.
Honestly, we had planned on using the microwave to make some instant Ramen, but we forgot forks (or spoons, or chopsticks- anything to eat with!). Instead of just asking one of the restaurants for spoons, we took the opportunity to buy food.
Instead of eating outside, we decided to eat in our room. The 2 chairs were wide enough for me to comfortably share a seat with my girls (ages 6 and 4), so we could sit down to eat dinner from the Hawaiian food place downstairs.
Even after swimming and then staying up to watch the fireworks from our hotel room, we woke up so well-rested.
The girls got ready nicely and had fun spinning around in their princess dresses in front of the full-length mirror. I even had time to get some footage for a super fun Instagram “magic” Haunted Mansion Reel with the girls.
Once my husband got his coffee, we walked less than 5 minutes across the street to Disneyland for a full day at the parks.
Luxury Room
Located in the new tower on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors, the luxury rooms have 2 queen beds. Cushioned benches are at the foot of each bed and you may find a desk and desk chair as opposed to a round table with a chair.
Most bathrooms have a single sink which is separated from the other half of the bathroom.
You can upgrade the Luxury Room to a Luxury View Room where you can see the Disneyland Resort and fireworks.
Premier Room
At 325 sq ft, the Premier Room offers plenty of space and 2 queen beds. A table and chairs with modern wall decor furnish the room to complete the design.
Most Premier Rooms have a double sink in the bathroom area.
Your window would be on the east side of the hotel looking out over the pool.
Deluxe Room
Level up your Classic Room by choosing a Deluxe Room. This 300 sq ft space is definitely an upgrade from the Classic Room, but slightly smaller than the Premier Room.
There’s a single sink with either 2 queen beds or 1 king bed.
These rooms are in the east-facing building, so your view will be opposite the parks. That’s OK though, you can always get a great view of the fireworks from the pool or The Fifth rooftop restaurant.
Legacy Suites
The Grand Legacy at the Park 3 Room Suite and 2 Room Suite are 950 sq ft and 630 sq ft, respectively.
They both have a parlor with a queen sofa sleeper, a cushioned chair with a footstool, a coffee table, and a table with chairs.
The rooms have 2 queen beds that have cushioned benches at the foot of each bed.
The Legacy Suites offer the best views of Disneyland Resort across the street.
Classic Rooms
The Classic Rooms are 225 sq ft and come with 2 full-size beds. The bathroom has one sink which is in the same space as the shower/tub and toilet.
As a moderate Good Neighbor Hotel, the Classic Room is where you can get the same signature comfort for a budget-conscious price.
Hotel Amenities for the Grand Legacy
Other than the room amenities, the Grand Legacy at the Park Hotel also offers quite a bit of extra amenities on-site for guests.
I have to say the pool area with the splash pad and the view of Disneyland fireworks are what drew us to this hotel in the first place.
Grand Legacy at the Park Parking
Parking is not included in your room booking but is good through the late checkout (12 pm).
Please check their website for the most up-to-date pricing, but at the time of our stay parking was $20 per night with a 17% charge for taxes & fees.
If you are staying in the Grand Legacy 3 Bedroom Suite or 2 Bedroom Suite, you can park a second car for $30 per night plus taxes & fees.
The Grand Legacy Hotel does offer extended parking for $30 (plus taxes & fees) if there is availability.
Unfortunately, they did not have any room for us to keep our car there past check-out time on the Sunday we were leaving.
They did have some options nearby of other hotels/shopping areas that might have full-day parking available for a fee. It was easy enough to just drive over and park at the Mickey and Friends Disneyland Parking Structure.
Courtyard with Food and Mini-Mart
The Grand Legacy at the Park Breakfast options include a Mini-Mart with plenty of convenience store-style pre-packaged food options.
Nearby you have Denny’s, IHOP, and McDonald’s for other breakfast choices if you didn’t want to eat breakfast in Disneyland.
There is no continental breakfast, although hot coffee is available in the lobby from 7 am-11 am daily.
Disneyland Rooftop Bar The Fifth
Grand Legacy Hotel Anaheim offers a unique rooftop bar and restaurant dining experience.
The Fifth is technically owned by a separate company, but the space is built into the hotel.
I recommend getting reservations ahead of time as it’s a popular spot, especially during fireworks.
One night we were there it was closed for a private party (dental school grads), and the next night there were no reservations.
The friendly staff at the front desk let me know there can be space at the bar if you go up and ask. Our girls were already ready for bed, so I just went up real quick to take a look and snap some pictures.
With music and a great ambiance, it’s definitely a restaurant I would like to try someday.
Pool & Splash Pad
The Grand Legacy Hotel by Disneyland has an amazing pool area perfect for relaxing in the evening or a mid-morning theme park break.
The pool is open daily from 8 am – 10 pm. It has a heated pool and jacuzzi plus a splash pad soak zone for kids.
With a beach-like walk-in from the shallow end and a zig-zag shape, the pool at the Grand Legacy at the Park has plenty of space for shallow-end splashers and deep-end swimmers.
One of the cool extra features is the pool’s inner tubes and beach balls available for guests to use.
Right next to the shallow end is a splash pad where kids can enjoy extra water fun! The splash pad was closed the Friday night we got there but was open and functioning the rest of our stay.
On the last morning of our stay, we took a pool break to swim a little then finish packing and check out before 12 pm. Our girls were having so much fun almost didn’t even want to leave the pool to go back into Disneyland.
Disneyland Grand Legacy Hotel Fireworks View
You can view the fireworks from most places on the property, but the best views are from the Fifth Rooftop Bar & Restaurant or one of the Luxury Plus rooms, Luxury View rooms, or Legacy Suites.
There is also a great view from the pool area. The fireworks look extra awesome over the water and pool landscaping.
You can also walk out onto the wrap-around balcony connecting all second-floor rooms, or try to see over the buildings from the parking lot.
It’s great to stay in Disneyland Park for the Fireworks to hear the music and see the projections, but if you’ve seen them before a hotel view is perfect.
We could get the girls into bed, get our own pajamas on, and then watch the fireworks from the comfort of the hotel. After they are over, we weren’t rushing with the crown to leave Disneyland Resort, we just went to bed.
Watching from the Grand Legacy is definitely a more stress-free, low-key way to enjoy the Disneyland fireworks.
Coffee and Popcorn
From 7 am – 11 am, you can get hot coffee from the lobby on your way to Disneyland Resort.
On your way back from the Disney Parks for an afternoon break, be sure to stop by the lobby again for some fresh popcorn.
After we checked into the hotel around 6 pm (thanks, traffic!), there were still a few bags of popcorn left. I snagged one for the girls to share while we unpacked to tide them over until dinner.
Additional Hotel Amenities
If you’re staying for a while, coin-operated laundry facilities are available at the Grand Legacy. They are open from 8 am – 10 pm.
Larger groups of families with kids can take advantage of the roll-away beds and cribs. These are available at a charge or for free depending on your room type (for Deluxe, Premier, Luxury, and Suites).
Another great amenity is the Scooter Rental place located right next to the lobby. If you need any strollers, wheelchairs, or mobile scooters this is the place to check.
My favorite amenity is the late checkout. You don’t have to worry about packing up the car until 12 pm!
This is particularly useful if you’re doing a character meal on your last morning or planning a half-day at the park before heading home.
If you do want to stay the whole day, you can always ask about extended parking or just drive to the Disneyland parking lot once you check out.
Grand Legacy Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel
Being a Good Neighbor Hotel for Disney, the Grand Legacy Hotel is held to higher standards by Disney.
The title comes with extra perks the hotel can offer and adds this well-known title to their website and marketing content.
One of the main benefits of being a Good Neighbor Hotel to Disneyland is that hotels can sell Disney Park tickets from their lobby and their website.
It’s a great package deal that makes booking your Disney vacation so much easier.

I loved my interaction with them so much when booking hotel stays or buying Disney tickets that I became a blog affiliate. This means if you book through them, you can help support my blog and get a good deal at no extra cost to you.
Use my code FTF10 for an extra $10 off your next vacation package. That’s worth a couple of yummy churros!
Grand Legacy Hotel vs Disney Resort Hotel
I absolutely love the Disneyland Resort hotels and have stayed in all 3 of them: Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disneyland Hotel, and Paradise Pier (Pixar Place) Hotel.
If anyone asks whether the hefty price for a Disney Hotel is worth it, my number one response is that you can’t beat the location of being on the Disney property.
While I still hold true to that with regards to having a private Disney Hotel Guests only entrance into the California Adventure Park, the Grand Legacy Hotel has made me rethink my initial claim.
It took us less than 5 minutes to walk back to the room from Disneyland’s exit to S Harbor Blvd.
It takes about that time (or more) to walk through Downtown Disney to get to the Disneyland Hotel or to walk through the long hallways of the Grand Californian Hotel to get to your room.

*exact view for any hotel depends on room type and location. Typically the higher-priced rooms have better views.
The table above shows my comparison based on my experiences.
Which hotel you choose really depends on the experience you want since the amenities are pretty comparable.
If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly comfort that still has a great Disney-inspired wow factor, the Grand Legacy Hotel is your best choice.
If you really want to go all out on receiving a name-brand Disney experience, there’s no replacement for the Disneyland Resort Hotels.
