Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit has returned to Downtown Disney for the 2024 Halloween season! During Disneyland’s Halloween Time, this scavenger hunt has you looking for Disney-themed painted pumpkins in Downtown Disney among all the shops and restaurants.
NEW to 2024: Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit has additional pumpkin scavenger hunts in Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure.

You don’t need a ticket for Disneyland or California Adventure for this Halloween game. Just pay for parking and enjoy an afternoon in Downtown Disney. For cheaper Disney parking rates, validate your parking ticket with a purchase at a shop or restaurant.
While you’re there, you may as well also stay for the Disneyland fireworks which you can view from multiple locations along Downtown Disney.
If you are enjoying a day at the theme parks, you can choose to find the pumpkins in Disneyland, California Adventure, or Downtown Disney. Similar to the Spring Egg Hunt, each map is a separate cost but the prizes are the same options.
Downtown Disney Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is back and better than ever! Starting in 2024, they’ve added 2 other pumpkin hunts: Disneyland and California Adventure.
We love hanging out in Downtown Disney, but these new locations for Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit are perfect if you want to participate without taking time out of a theme park day.
The prizes and the concept are the same, just the locations are different.
Here’s the Gist of Plutos Pumpkin Pursuit
Every year, this pumpkin scavenger hunt is done by Disneyland during their Halloween Time festivities.
There are 13 pumpkins painted each with a different Disney character. These pumpkins are hidden around Downtown Disney.
California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park also have 13 pumpkins each as separate scavenger hunts.
Match the location on the front of the map with the corresponding sticker on the back.
Once you complete the scavenger hunt (place all 13 stickers in their correct spot on the map), you then turn in your map and choose one of five prizes. The prizes change every year, so keep reading to find out more details for this year’s pumpkins.
My Overall Experience of Plutos Pumpkin Pursuit
With 13 painted pumpkins hiding throughout Downtown Disney, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit is a fun activity to complete before the Oogie Boogie Bash.
My mom and I had so much fun trying to find all of the pumpkins. Some were very easy to spot while others…well, I’m not saying we needed a little help, but we needed a little help.
This pumpkin scavenger hunt is a great way to explore Downtown Disney and really look at all the different shops. One cast member gave us a little hint by telling us some pumpkins were inside shops while others were outside of them. She also said to look really high and really low.
Not very specific, I know…
We did quite a bit of walking in Downtown Disney to find them all.
We came back another day with my husband and our two little girls. My girls had no problem finding those pumpkins! It’s Halloween fun for the whole family, no matter what age.
Hint: Pumpkins are really high and really low, inside and outside of the shops (mostly up high…).
To officially participate, maps can be purchased for $9.99 plus tax (referencing 2024 pricing) from one of the shops and place the correct sticker in the right map location. There’s a general location description on the map so you know generally where to look for the hidden pumpkins and where to place the stickers.
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Prize
Once you complete the scavenger hunt, head on over to the World of Disney store or Disney’s Pin Traders to choose your prize.
Don’t forget to take a picture with the photo op props! They have some cute options including a giant Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit frame.
You can buy all 5 prizes, but the cost of the character pumpkin hunt only includes a choice of one.
The return of Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit scavenger hunt comes with new prizes!
The prizes for 2024 are super cute pumpkin cups with straws, similar to the 2023 prize, but with a different pattern.
I think the 2023 prize was also completely worth it, but the 2022 prize fell short.
If you aren’t a fan of the pumpkin hunt prize, then participate by just looking for these character-inspired pumpkins. No stickers, no prize, no extra cost. The search adds a fun element to the spirit of the Halloween season.

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Returns August 30-November 1, 2024.
Halloween time at Disneyland starts on August 23, 2024 and goes through October 31.
You might think the 2024 prizes for Pluto’s Pumpkin Hunt are too similar to last years, but I’m glad they didn’t return to a tiny little pumpkin container with nothing in it.
Choose between Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Stitch for your prize. Each pumpkin has a pattern of small icons with the respective character in their Halloween costumes.
2023 Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Prizes
The 2023 prizes were super cute Disney character-inspired pumpkin sipper cups! There were 5 chracters to choose from: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, or Stitch.
My girls chose Stitch and Minnie Mouse (I’m glad they didn’t want the same one!).
I LOVE to keep stuff like this and bring it out every holiday as a fun decoration, so to me this prize was completely worth it.
2022 Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Prizes
The prize for Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit in 2022 was a souvenir pumpkin mini candy bucket. You could choose from a purple Stitch, yellow Minnie Mouse, orange Mickey Mouse, or green Pluto design.
Personally, I thought the mini-bucket (which was really a doll size) was not worth $10. It was better quality than say a Dollar Store mini-pumpkin bucket, but it didn’t seem to be priced correctly.
However, we thought it through and it was definitely $10 worth of fun. The whole time my mom and I were looking silly and laughing at ourselves. Still, I wish it came with some candy corn inside of it or something additional…
Is Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Worth It?
Would I do Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit again? Yes, but not every year, and definitely not more than once in the Disney Halloween time season.
It’s free to look for the pumpkins, you just won’t get the sticker map or the prize at the end.
Also, there is no need for a Disneyland Park ticket to visit Downtown Disney, just pay for parking and enjoy the shops and restaurants.
While it’s always amazing to spend time inside Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks, it’s also a great Disneyland Resort activity to spend time just walking around Downtown Disney.
Instead of riding rides, you’ll be shopping, dining, and taking in that Disneyland atmosphere. Most of the Character Meals are also available without buying a Disneyland Park ticket.
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit offers a great way to do just that: spend time exploring Downtown Disney and all the fun things it has to offer.

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit in Disneyland and California Adventure
There are 13 pumpkins hiding in Disney’s California Adventure Park and 13 pumpkins in Disneyland Park.
The rules and the prizes for the Halloween pumpkin search are the same as Downtown Disney’s search.
So if everything is the same, why have a separate pumpkin hunt in each Disneyland Resort location?
To find pumpkins in the theme parks, you need a theme park ticket and reservation. Downtown Disney doesn’t require either (just parking!).
This lets anyone participate no matter which area they are spending time in. It’s the same thing they’ve done for the springtime egg hunt.
Plus, it’s fun to find pumpkins wherever you go!
